Terms of Use

Please read these Terms of Use (“Terms”) carefully before using the “Mouse for Mac” (“Souris pour Mac”) iPhone app and its companion macOS app (together, “the App”). By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

For the iPhone app downloaded from the App Store, these Terms supplement Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, which prevails in case of conflict regarding the App Store.

2. Description of Service

Mouse for Mac turns your iPhone into a remote control for your Mac over your local Wi-Fi network. The iPhone app works with a free companion macOS app distributed on this website. The App lets you:

• move the pointer, click and scroll (mouse and trackpad);
• adjust your Mac’s volume;
• with Premium: use the keyboard, adjust built-in display brightness, launch apps and favorites, and put your Mac to sleep or shut it down.

The App requires your iPhone and Mac to be on the same local network, with the Mac app open and granted the necessary macOS permissions.

3. Premium Subscription

• Free version: mouse, trackpad and volume control.
• Premium: unlocks the keyboard, brightness, app and favorite launching, and sleep/shut down. Premium is offered as an auto-renewable yearly subscription, at the price shown in the App.
• 7-day free trial: the subscription starts with a 7-day free trial. Unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly subscription is automatically charged when the trial ends. The free trial is available to new subscribers only, subject to Apple’s eligibility rules.
• The subscription is processed by Apple through the App Store. The price is shown in your local currency, and payment is charged to your Apple Account at the end of the free trial.
• The subscription renews automatically every year unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
• You can restore your subscription on devices signed in with the same Apple Account from the App’s Premium screen.
• No refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription period. Refund requests must be directed to Apple, in accordance with its terms.

4. Mac App, Pairing and Permissions

• The Mac app requires macOS’s “Accessibility” permission so it can move the pointer, click and type on your behalf. You can revoke it at any time in System Settings.
• Pairing between your iPhone and Mac uses a 6-digit code shown on the Mac. Do not share this code with anyone you don’t want to give control of your Mac to.
• Actions sent from your iPhone (keystrokes, clicks, app launches, sleep, shut down) are carried out on the Mac as if you performed them yourself. You are responsible for them; for example, shutting down your Mac remotely may cause unsaved work to be lost.

5. Intellectual Property

• The App, including its design, code, icons and content, is owned by Mouse for Mac and protected by intellectual property laws.
• You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on devices you own or control.
• The Mac app is distributed free of charge on this website. You may not sell it or redistribute modified versions of it.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• control a Mac you do not own or are not authorized to use;
• use the App for any unlawful purpose or to harm others;
• reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except as permitted by law;
• attempt to circumvent Premium restrictions;
• interfere with the operation of the App or the networks it is used on.

7. Disclaimers

• The App is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The App depends on your local network, Wi-Fi configuration and iOS/macOS versions.
• Some features depend on hardware; for example, brightness can only be adjusted on the Mac’s built-in display.
• We are not responsible for any loss of data on your devices, including loss caused by a remotely triggered sleep or shut down.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Mouse for Mac and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your devices. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to any mandatory, more protective provisions of your country of residence.
