Privacy Policy — Mouse for Mac

In short: Mouse for Mac does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. The iPhone app and the Mac app only talk to each other, over your local network. No account, no servers, no trackers.

This policy applies to the “Mouse for Mac” (“Souris pour Mac”) iPhone app, its companion macOS app and this website (together, “the Service”).

1. Data we collect

None. We do not collect any personal or usage data: no name, no email address, no device identifier, no location, no contacts, no usage analytics, no crash reports sent to us. No account is required to use the Service.

2. How the local network is used

To control your Mac, the iPhone app:

discovers the Mac app on your Wi-Fi network using Bonjour (mDNS), which requires iOS’s “Local Network” permission;
pairs with your Mac using a 6-digit code shown on the Mac’s screen;
sends the commands you perform (pointer movement, clicks, scrolling, keystrokes, volume, brightness, app launches, sleep or shut down) directly to the Mac over the local network.

This traffic stays strictly between your two devices. It does not go through any server, is not sent over the internet, and is neither recorded nor analyzed by us. Pairing information and your preferences (such as favorites) are stored locally on your devices and are deleted when you uninstall the apps.

3. Keystrokes

When you use the keyboard feature, the text you type is sent to the Mac in real time to be typed there, and is not stored anywhere by the Service.

4. Permissions

iPhone — Local Network: required to find and communicate with your Mac.
Mac — Accessibility: required so the Mac app can move the pointer, click and type on your behalf. It is only used to carry out the commands you send from your paired iPhone.

You can revoke these permissions at any time in iPhone Settings and in System Settings on your Mac.

5. In-app purchases

The Premium subscription (yearly, with a 7-day free trial) is sold through the App Store. Payment and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We never have access to your payment details or your Apple Account; the app only receives confirmation from Apple that a purchase is valid. Apple’s handling of this data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

6. Trackers, advertising and third parties

The Service contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites. This website uses no cookies and no audience-measurement tools. It is hosted by Vercel, which may process technical logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the hosting secure and running.

7. Children

Since the Service collects no data at all, it collects no data from children either.

8. Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing on our side to access, correct or delete. To erase locally stored data (pairing, favorites), simply delete the apps from your devices. For any questions about your rights (including under the GDPR), feel free to contact us.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
